Electronic Equipment Market Steady
January 3, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. The global market for electronic equipment including wireless, wired, industrial, automotive, consumer, and data-processing devices will maintain current growth rates from 2006 to 2007, according to iSuppli Corp.'s report, "Electronic Equipment and Semiconductor Forecast Q1 2007." Global revenue growth for all electronic equipment should equal 6.7%, up just 0.1% from last year's 6.6%.
With "selling prices on both equipment and semiconductors going down, unit growth will be higher, demanding greater manufacturing capacity," estimates Gary Grandbois, iSuppli, who generated the report. He notes that electronics manufacturing should consider a steady growth rate of 6.6 6.7% positive for the industry.
Data-processing devices will drive market growth, as the largest segment of electronic equipment (28.8%) and the fastest-growing in revenues. iSuppli bases this prediction on a rise in unit shipments and average selling prices (ASPs) for PCs. Data processing will generate an estimated $421.7 billion this year with a target growth rate of 9.1%.
With 7.2% growth expected, wired communications should expand to $101.4 billion in revenues, reports iSuppli. The consumer electronics sector will also have an impact on general growth, with video-game consoles creating the most dynamic revenues.
