Industry Certifications and Accreditations

Several companies from equipment manufacturers to factory-management providers have announced recent accreditations from partner companies or standards organizations. Following is the news from Asymtek, PEER Group, and Transene Company.
Carlsbad, Calif.-based Asymtek met requirements for a quality management system and received recertification for ISO 9001:2000; the company was originally certified in July 2000. Third-party agent Det Norske Veritas performed the audit. The ISO standard maintains a productive infrastructure and quality standards within the company, according to Martin Stone, VP of operations and ISO management representative for Asymtek.
PEER Group of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, attained "Gold" certification in the Microsoft Partner Program, with competency in independent software vendor/software solutions (ISV). As a Gold-certified partner, PEER Group demonstrates expertise with Microsoft technologies and customer focus, and will receive benefits in direct access, training, and support. PEER Group provides test and software services for factory automation at EMS providers, semiconductor manufacturers, and other facilities.
Transene Company, Inc., achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification. Transene, located in Danvers, Mass., manufactures high-purity chemicals and materials for semiconductor, IC, and PCB applications. The quality-management implementation program involved all levels of the company, said Christopher Christuk, general manager.
