November 6, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
TORONTO, ON EMS provider SMTC Corporation expanded operations in the western U.S. with increased presence in San Jose, Calif. Carl Munio and Russ Morrow joined SMTC's western division to guide corporate development. The company also has reconfigured its footprint toward more manufacturing and configure-to-order capacity at the San Jose facility with assembly, testing, box build, final product integration, and global supply-chain logistics.
SMTC's San Jose facility opened in 1995 for new product introduction (NPI) and lower-volume production with SMT, mixed technology, and other electronic end-product manufacturing. The plant is RoHS-compliant, Class 3, with IPC-A-610 Rev. D certification.
Munio became vice president and general manager in San Jose. With more than 35 years in computer and networking sectors, Munio held senior-level positions at SBE Inc., Sun Microsystems, and Hewlett-Packard.
Morrow joined the company in May 2006 as vice president of sales for the western region. He has worked for 10 years in EMS-focused account management positions.
