PennWell's SMT Magazine and the Rochester Institute of Technology Center for Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly Announce Implementing Lead-free: A Hands-on Workshop

Nashua, NH-PennWell Corporation's SMT Magazine and Rochester Institute of Technology's (RIT) Center for Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly (CEMA) together announce Implementing Lead-free: A Hands-on Workshop, October 16-19, 2006, at the RIT campus in Rochester, N.Y. The workshop will offer a combination of hands-on and lecture-only sessions covering several facetsof the PCB assembly process, including board design, wave soldering, selective soldering, inspection, lead-free certification, and others.
This four-day event is targeted toward production, manufacturing, or process engineers; technical engineering staff; corporate management; and circuit designers, circuit/system packaging designers. Featured speakers include industry luminaries ? Doug Peck; Ronald Lasky, Ph.D., PE; Scott Anson; Paul Vianco, Ph.D.; Ning-Cheng Lee, Ph.D.; Yun Zhang, Ph.D.; Professor S. Manian Ramkumar; Dennis Barbini, Ph.D.; Viswam Puligandila, Ph.D.; and Jim Dills.
Workshop topics will focus on lead-free rework and repair; failure analysis technologies for process engineers; tin whisker mitigation; lead-free system compatibility; IPC-7711 certification; and RoHS traceablility, certification, and compliance. Dan Shea, chief technology officer (CTO), Celestica, will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, October 17 during a cocktail reception.
