June 13, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. John Sammut, president and CEO, and Jochen Lipp, vice president and COO of EPIC Technologies, received the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 Award in the Technology category of the Central Great Lakes region.
An independent panel of judges selected Sammut and Lipp, qualifying them for the national program award, to be announced in November 2006, as well as the world event in Monte Carlo, France. Sammut attributed the award to EPIC's staff and management, while Lipp noted that the Ernst and Young Award was one of several distinctions that they had received this year, including an SMT Magazine VISION Award in February 2006.
Sammut and Lipp accepted the award at the Ernst and Young 20th anniversary gala event at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Dearborn, Mich., on June 8, 2006. Founded in Milwaukee, Wis. in 1986, the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award honors those who demonstrate excellence and success in key areas such as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to business and community. Past winners in the region include Ray Schiavone of Arbortext, Inc. and James R. Scapa of Altair Engineering, Inc.
