Quick-turn PCB Maker Honored for Green Standards
May 24, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
AURORA, Colo. For the third year in a row, Advanced Circuits was awarded a Gold Award from the Metro Wastewater Restoration District (MWRD) of Colorado, recognizing the company's efforts to minimize pollution and waste by transporting spent materials to off-site locations for recycling.
The Gold Award notes 100% compliance with pretreatment requirements and a commitment to environmental matters; and recognized 15 companies this year. Advanced Circuits, a manufacturer of quick-turn PCBs, collects spent nickel baths and excess copper panel frames, as well as waste pieces for off-site reclamation. The company has also installed a pumice-scrubber system for reducing the amount of corrosive chemistry used to prepare circuit boards for chemical processing. Advanced Circuits also purchased an etcher to reduce ammonia emissions.
"Printed circuit manufactures are historically seen as damaging to our environment," said John Yacoub, company president and CEO. "One of our main goals at Advanced Circuits is to minimize our negative effects on the environment and allow customers to be confident they are working with an environmentally conscious manufacturing partner." The MWRD is a regional organization that has been recognizing environmentally sound companies since 1991.
