Southwest Electronics Production Expo Debuts
April 19, 2006 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
DALLAS — The Southwest Electronics Production Exposition (SWEPEX), which demonstrates electronics production equipment and services, will be held November 14–15, 2006, in Plano, Texas.
Jerry Cupples and Jim Baker of Texas Technical Expositions, LLC formed SWEPEX in response to the need for a regional trade conference in the southwest U.S. Conference sessions and seminars will target attendees who fabricate, assemble, and test circuit components and assemblies. Even though outsourcing and the move offshore have affected manufacturing in the U.S., Texas and the southwest remain a core region for OEMs and contractor manufacturers.
"We look forward to showing our equipment in Texas. Watching the machines run is the best way for prospective customers to evaluate us, and allows us to meet with the users to show that the advances in automation pay dividends in use," states Bob Black, CEO of Juki Automation Systems and scheduled show exhibitor. "Our customer base in the southwest is solid and growing, and we think SWEPEX will be an effective way to stay connected to this market."
TechBiz Consulting, LLC will organize the paid seminar and conference program for SWEPEX — Gary Tanel, president, TechBiz Consulting, believes the southwest U.S. market needs a technical conference. "We plan to have nationally recognized experts in Plano to give attendees information on topics such as RoHS and lead-free compliance, supply chain management, nanotechnology, and EMS business trends," says Tanel. "The activity level in the regional market is high, and the interest in regulatory changes and technology development is unending."
Tanel also serves as president of the SMTA's Dallas Chapter, and authors a business management column for SMT Magazine.
