OTTAWA, Ontario — Ageus Solutions' China RoHS compliance services provide guidance and services to meet the pending material restrictions and declaration requirements for electrical and electronic products being sold into China. Ageus Solutions' China RoHS Services include:
Consulting support Evaluation of inclusion of products in China RoHS Product conversion Material declaration Support for labeling requirementsThe "Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products," also known as "China RoHS," will become effective March 1, 2007. Much like the European Union (EU)'s RoHS Directive, China RoHS aims to control and reduce environmental pollution and other public hazards during manufacturing, selling, and importing electronic information products. However, China RoHS has several unique variables, including: direct implementation; a clear focus on electronic information products; a list method rather than a categorization and exemption method to determine whether products are in- or out-of-scope; and the requirement of a compulsory certification (3C certification) provided by an approved Chinese testing organization, rather than the "self-declaration" method employed under the EU's RoHS Directive. Manufacturers and producers of electronic information products who do not comply with the China RoHS regulations will not be able to sell their products in China and could, in addition, face substantial fines.
