Bare Board Tester Suits Large-size PCBs
February 3, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
STRAMBINO, Italy — The S24BBT bare board tester from Seica can test boards up to 24 × 40". The tester will be demonstrated at APEX in Anaheim, Calif., February 8–10, 2006, with the company's Multi-board Handler, which can handle different part number PCBs in various quantities for operator-free test cycles.
Integrated repair software within the tester enables quick location of any defect found around tested circuits. Other features include roller bearings and brushless motors teamed with ball screws to move the four measurement probes (two on each side of the board being tested) during tests. The on-board vision system includes two charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras — one for each side of the PCB. The universal test probe can probe every tape and form of test point, ranging from a typical surface mount device (SMD) pad, round and elliptical "donuts", down to small pads. This platform also provides unassisted test capabilities for companies expanding to second and third shifts without the need to hire additional employees.
