New PU and PVA Materials Suit CMP Machinery
October 20, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
CHANDLER, Ariz. — Ceiba Technologies' polyurethane (PU) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) sponge materials are produced in roller and sheet forms for absorbing fluids and particulate wastes; scrubbing surfaces; and applying uniform coatings. Manufactured to exacting specifications and tolerances that provide lot-to-lot consistency, the PU material is formulated for softness in both wet and dry conditions, combined with abrasion and chemical resistance for absorption, scrubbing, and impregnation. The PVA material is similar to PU, but becomes ultra-soft when wet, helping to prevent micro-scratching of delicate surfaces. PVA has a continuous porous structure of up to 90% porosity that reportedly can absorb up to 1100% its dry weight in water. It also can be further washed and treated in applications where particle and contaminant counts must be minimized. PVA rollers are produced to fit all standard chemical and mechanical planarization (CMP) machines, and may be custom-molded to suit specific needs.
