OK to Launch Lead-free Solutions at Productronica '05
October 4, 2005 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
MENLO PARK, Calif. — In response to ever-increasing global demand for lead-free hand soldering, rework and fume extraction systems ahead of the WEEE and RoHS deadlines, OK International will launch a new range developed under the single OK International brand specifically for lead-free processes. Through the on-stand "Lead-Free Kiosk," customers will be able to meet OK's lead-free process experts to help resolve any hand soldering and rework application issues.
For soldering, desoldering and rework environments, the MFR Series multi-function rework system includes compact power units and an array of tools, interchangeable heater tips and tip cartridges. For varied workloads, multiple units can interlock to power as many tools as necessary. SmartHeat technology automatically determines and delivers the required heat energy, turning out reduced soldering temperatures, no thermal overshoot, reduced risk of damaging components/boards and no need to calibrate.
For removing and replacing thermally demanding lead-free components from 0201s to 304-pin QFPs, the HCT-900 handheld hot-air convection tool incorporates closed-loop feedback to maintain target temperature, regardless of changing airflow. The system features analog controls for heat and airflow, which are individually adjustable. A low-noise air pump design delivers precise airflow control for demanding applications.
The APR-5000 array package rework series quickly develops lead-free profiles via the systems' five thermocouples, with customers quoting repeatable lead-free processing within a window of ±5°C.
The MFX-2200 fume extraction system supports up to eight manual electronics assembly workstations or removes particulates and gases from exhaust cabinets and small bench-top wave/reflow soldering equipment. The BTX-208 fume extraction system offers high-performance extraction direct from hand-soldering iron tips. Featuring a high-pressure, low-volume air pump, the unit can support up to eight soldering stations using 5.6-mm tubes. Engineered for under-bench installation, the compact 20 × 10 × 11.3" system incorporates a pre-filter, main filter (offering HEPA efficiency exceeding 99.97%) and activated carbon filter to remove gases.
