BANNOCKBURN, Ill. - IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries announced plans to fill nine positions on its Board of Directors in an election at the end of 2005. The IPC Nominating and Governance Committee, chaired by IPC Board Chairman Peter Murphy and comprised of five Board members, will evaluate Board candidates. The Committee will review nominees for business and professional experience, perspective and previous contribution to the Board. The Committee will also confirm that each nominee meets certain qualifications:
- Candidates should possess the knowledge, experience and expertise to assist the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities, as well as assist the association in achieving its objectives.
- As the IPC Board of Directors is dedicated to furthering the competitive excellence and financial success of IPC’s members, Board candidates must also be able to think conceptually and with a long-term perspective.
- Board members must evaluate ideas and policies for their benefit to all members, not just speaking on behalf of their respective industry segments.
IPC asks that candidates also be:
- A senior-level decision-maker from an IPC member company;
- Of the highest moral and ethical character and must exhibit strong leadership abilities;
- Willing to commit sufficient time to prepare for and effectively participate in Board and committee meetings, and to represent IPC at professional meetings and conferences;

Industry members who would like to nominate qualified candidates can fill out at form at www.ipc.org/boardsurvey. Self nominations are also accepted. Submissions must be received by November 21, 2005.
PCB Book-to-bill ratioJuly Book-to-Bill Ratio Inches Upward
NORTHBROOK, Ill. - The IPC IMS/PCB book-to-bill ratio for July 2005 rose to 1.16. Due to the divergence between the rigid PCB and flexible circuit segments of the industry growth rates and book-to-bill patterns, this combined ratio has become less important to analysts. IPC reports a book-to-bill of 0.99 for rigid PCBs and 1.71 for flexible circuits. For these segments combined, sales billed (shipments) for July 2005 increased 4.7% year-over-year, and orders booked increased 4.1% from July 2004.
July’s overall book-to-bill level rose slightly from last month’s numbers, and combined bookings for July 2005 dropped 27% from the previous month.
