Color Polyimide Labels Suit Lead-free and Standard Processes
September 22, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
WESTMORELAND, N.H. — Polyonics Inc.'s 1- and 2-mil color polyimide labels are coated with a permanent, pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive and a high-opacity, medium-gloss topcoat available in six tinted colors — pink, yellow, orange, blue, green and violet. They are thermal-transfer-printable and scan with both visible and IR scanners. Barcode labels made from these colored polyimide materials may be used in lead-free wave solder environments ranging from 260° to 290°C. Designed for barcode or alphanumeric identification of PCBs or related electronic components, the labels withstand mixed-circuit-board processes on either the top or bottom side of the board. The label materials also resist harsh fluxes, cleaning agents, saponifiers and wave solder environments, and resist all commonly used methods of cleaning. Using these color-coded labels help to differentiate RoHS/WEEE-compliant subassemblies from those that are non-compliant.
