MYDATA to Show 01005 Component Handling at Productronica '05
September 20, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
STOCKHOLM, Sweden — MYDATA Automation AB will demonstrate high-speed 01005 component placement at the approaching Productronica trade show in Munich on November 15–18, 2005. The latest version of the Agilis 3.7 feeder and new high-precision tools grant MYDATA's placement machines with the ability to handle 01005 chips at high speeds.
"Components will only continue to get smaller in the future," says Fredrik Moberg, MYDATA product manager. "01005 passive component technology are soon becoming the norm, since they allow board producers to increase board density and enhance electrical performance."
The Agilis feeder features a type of support spring for the tape, geometrical changes and a stabilizer to hold components in position, ensuring reliable feeding of 01005 chips and reducing mis-pick rates for 0201- and 0402-size chips. MYDATA "previewed" this technology at the APEX trade show back in February 2005, when they demonstrated high-speed 0210 placement. "When people saw us demonstrating the placement of 0210s with the multi-headed HYDRA, they were very enthusiastic," says Brian Duffey, MYDATA USA's president. "They immediately saw the potential of mounting the 01005s at significantly higher speeds." MYDATA has also developed two high-precision nozzles for the Midas and HYDRA mountheads to handle these tiny packages.
