Universal Appoints New President
August 15, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
STRATHAM, N.H. — Vitronics Soltec's president since 1999, Jeroen L. Schmits, will leave his position to assume the recently vacated Universal Instuments (UIC) presidency, effective August 23, 2005. A replacement for Schmits at Vitronics Soltec has yet to be named.
Schmits brings more than 15 years of experience in the circuit-board assembly market to his new position, having served from 1989–1997 in sales and engineering management positions for Vitronics Soltec, and from 1997–1999 was vice president of the Surface Mount/System Division at UIC. He was appointed president of Vitronics Soltec in 1999, and he led the company successfully through the industry's downturn while increasing the company's global market share.
