HCM Chooses Universal Placement Platform
June 23, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
SALISBURY, Md. — Salisbury, Md.-based Harvard Custom Manufacturing, Inc. (HCM) has selected Universal Instruments' AdVantis placement platform for its high-mix manufacturing requirements. HCM already has installed one complete AdVantis line, with another scheduled for final installation this summer.
"From a technology point of view, we are extremely impressed with AdVantis' placement accuracy and quick changeovers which, in our business, are not desired characteristics, but requirements," says Brad Bentz, HCM's vice president. "The equipment is definitely meeting our performance expectations, and Universal's customer service has been outstanding. We have an excellent partnership."
The AdVantis platform is said to deliver economic value and technologically advanced performance in cost-sensitive markets, including consumer electronics, AV equipment, PCs, peripherals and high-mix environments. The platform delivers a single-beam overhead gantry system, 1-µm-resolution linear encoders, a compact footprint, a component placement range of 0603 mm (0201) to 55 x 55-mm SFoV and availability in multiple configurations.
