DEK Steps Up Production, Expands Capacity to Meet Demand
June 10, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
FLEMINGTON, N.J. — Over the last 18 months, demand for DEK's mass-imaging line has reportedly continued to rise dramatically, together with manufacturing capacity and productivity. Anticipating future market and customer needs, DEK has been able to quickly expand its capacity and enhance its productivity.
The success of DEK's Micron-class platform, which includes the Galaxy and Europa mass-imaging systems, has propelled its capacity expansion. "The market response to our new Micron-class platform and the resulting demand increases are proof-positive of DEK's ability to anticipate our customers' future manufacturing technology requirements," claims Richard Heimsch, DEK International president. "Coming on the heels of a record-breaking 2004, we're now expanding our global manufacturing capacity by an additional 34%."
The company's approach to JIT, a Kanban methodology that provides a continuous flow of product throughout the factory floor, is said to have fueled DEK's manufacturing flexibility success. Parts are automatically replenished upon demand and the seamless production cycle is completed in a fraction of the time typically required for its category of capital equipment.
