Alcohol-based Liquid Flux Ideal for Lead-free
May 13, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
DES PLAINES, Ill. — The 959T alcohol-based, no-clean liquid flux for lead-free wave soldering applications is now available from Kester, and is also backward-compatible with tin/lead wave soldering operations. Benefits include optimized wetting properties and shiny solder joints due to its solvent-based chemistry. Typical solids content is 2.9%, so the flux leaves evenly distributed residues. Its small rosin percentage (0.5%) is said to improve solderability, heat stability and surface insulation resistance. The flux can be applied by means of spray, foam or dip processes, and is non-corrosive, halogen-free, Bellcore-compliant and classified ORL0 per J-STD-004.
