Fume Extraction System Offers HEPA Filtration
April 14, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
MENLO PARK, Calif. — OK International's Metcal BTX-208 fume extraction system reportedly provides fume extraction for up to eight tip-extraction stations when using 5.6-mm tubes. Based on Metcal's BVX-200 portable two-arm system technology, BTX-208 provides a high vacuum required to draw air through narrow tip-extraction tubes in soldering applications. To suit soldering and rework environments, a pre-filter is followed by a main filter, reportedly offering HEPA efficiency, plus an activated carbon filter to remove gases. Both main and pre-filters can be changed independently, maximizing the filters' working life. Designed for under-bench installation and for use with hand-soldering irons, the BTX-208 unit measures 508 x 254 x 388 mm. Weight is 19.84 lbs, while noise level is <55 dBA. Its universal power supply accepts 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz, and UL, CSA and CE certification.
