Rework Station Targets Lead-free
March 30, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
RALEIGH, N.C. — A soldering station for fine-pitch, high-density SMT soldering and rework includes a 120-V micro-soldering station, a micro-soldering pencil with one tip and a pencil stand with an adjustable tip angle. Targeting lead-free solder, the Weller Micro Repair System (WMRS) from Weller, a brand by Cooper Hand Tools, includes soldering tip cartridges that can reach a set temperature in 2 sec. A heat-transfer system ensures tip-temperature stability under ground planes and multi-layer boards. When placing the pencil in the stand, a user can immediately switch off the power, or set a time delay—extending tip life. The rubber grip on each tip cartridge allows the tip to be changed by hand.
