IHS and GlobalSpec Form Alliance
January 20, 2005 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., and TROY, N.Y. — IHS Inc. (www.ihs.com) has announced the immediate availability of the newest addition to the comprehensive IHS lineup of Engineering Content products, GlobalSpec Enterprise.
As a result, engineers, designers and technical buyers in aerospace/aviation, defense and energy organizations and industries now have direct and secure access to SpecSearch from GlobalSpec, enabling them to search for products and services by specification using technical attributes and parameters. The ability to quickly search and evaluate parts by their functional and physical attributes will help multi-location manufacturers and distributors save time by picking the right product the first time. Engineers will also gain access to The Engineering Web, which focuses on tech-centric content and delivers only the most relevant and unbiased search results.
Leigh Watson Healy, chief analyst from Outsell Inc., a research and advisory firm for the information industry, adds, "The market has needed a solution like this for some time. Bringing together the latest of today's content and search functionality with desktop applications like the IHS solution has the potential to exceed customers' expectations for content integration at the users' point of need. We have been predicting and expect to see more deals like this where industry leaders come together to provide a more complete solution for the customer."
IHS delivers an online database of active and historical U.S., European, national and international, and corporate standards, as well as U.S. government specifications and related technical documents.
