Event Announced to Tackle Cost of Doing Business in California
January 12, 2005 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
BANNOCKBURN, Ill. — The IPC California Circuits Association (CCA) is inviting all members of the electronics supply chain to take an active role in improving business conditions in California. The third annual Sacramento Day will take place February 1-2, 2005, at the California Chamber of Commerce offices in Sacramento, Calif., and will give companies a chance to speak directly with members of the California Legislature regarding their concerns and needs for the future.
Open to all companies in the electronic interconnection industry with operations in California, the two-day event will help local PCB and electronic assembly companies expand their industry presence in Sacramento by informing legislators of the function and importance they have within California's high technology sector. Program attendees will meet with select legislators and formally call for change to California's business climate; in particular, reforming the state's unemployment insurance program, and encouraging legislators to reduce the impact of burdensome regulations within the state.
Dick Crowe, CCA executive director, says, "Governor Schwarzenegger's continued popularity is a strong indication that the people of California want to change the state for the better. A survey we recently conducted showed that the number one problem that companies face is the anti-business climate in the state. Our goal is to 'terminate' unreasonable regulations and encourage pro-business legislation to promote jobs and prosperity within our industry and within our state."
Crowe adds, "Industry participation is vital if we are to increase our visibility and reverse the long trend of anti-manufacturing and anti-competitive legislation coming out of the state house. We must lobby our legislators to remind them of the impact of excessive regulations and the impact it has on the survival of our companies."
The deadline for registration is January 21, 2005. For more information on the third annual Sacramento Day, visit www.calcircuits.org/sacday, or contact Crowe at (714) 343-6267.
