International Rectifier's iPOWIR Building Block Wins Award in China
October 25, 2004 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Los Angeles, Calif.—International Rectifier (IR) announces its iP1201 iPOWIR power building block has won the "Top 10 DC-DC Award" from Electronic Products China (EPC) magazine. The iP1201 is the industry's first dual-output, two-phase DC-DC power block in a single BGA package for synchronous buck applications.
"We are honored to be recognized by China's distinguished engineering community," says Stephen Tsang, senior VP of sales at IR. "Designers using iPOWIR devices are able to streamline power supply design, improve performance and realize a competitive advantage with a faster time-to-market. The China market represents the fastest growing region for IR, with revenues up almost 80 percent over the past year."
Today's advanced telecommunications, networking and server systems have as many as six voltage rails throughout the system board. As the demand to process more information increases, voltage rails must increase their current capability.
The new iP1201 enables designers to use a single device to supply two independent voltage rails, simplifying computing and communications equipment power supply design and shrinking space as much as 59 percent compared to equivalent circuits made with discrete components.
The device has no de-rating requirements up to 90 degrees Celsius of circuit board and device case temperature, unlike other module solutions that require a de-rating of as much as 50 percent in similar environments.
More information about IR's iPOWIR devices, including application notes and data sheets, can be found at www.irf.com or www.irf.com.cn.
