Northbrook, Ill. — IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries has launched a new Web site for lead-free information and trends.
IPC developed this Web site, located at leadfree.ipc.org to assist the electronic interconnect industry in meeting worldwide lead-free regulations as they develop. The regulatory section of the Web site includes links to European Union WEEE and RoHS regulations as well as information regarding lead-free restrictions in California, China, Korea and Japan. At the new site, visitors will find information about the environmental and human health effects of lead in electronics, including background information and two lifecycle assessments.
The Web site also summarizes the latest technical information on lead-free solder, including results of the IPC Solder Value Products Council round robin testing. Supply chain tools such as materials declarations and the draft IPC standard on lead-free labeling are on the site, as well as a comprehensive compilation of IPC lead-free resources including IPC standards for lead-free electronics, peer-to-peer listserv and archives, and a schedule of upcoming IPC lead-free conferences and training.
IPC is a trade association dedicated to the competitive excellence and financial success of its more than 2,200 member companies, which represent all facets of the electronic interconnection industry, including design, printed circuit board manufacturing and electronics assembly.
