Solectron Announces Strategic Divestitures

Milpitas, Calif. — Solectron Corp. announces a new divestiture, as well as the completion of a previously announced one, both in line with the company's plan to sell certain assets not central to its future strategy.
The company has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Microtechnology business to Francisco Partners, a California-based private equity firm. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the third quarter of calendar 2004, were not disclosed. The Microtechnology business produces frequency control products and hybrid microcircuits.
In addition, Solectron has completed the sale of its Force Computers embedded computing business to Motorola Inc. Terms of the deal, which was initially announced in mid-June, were not disclosed. Force provides embedded computing products and services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in a wide variety of applications.
