Assembleon, Tecnomatix Extend Collaboration Agreement to Provide Integrated Programming Solutions for Assembly Machines
February 27, 2004 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Herzlia, Israel — Assembleon and Tecnomatix Technologies Ltd. announce an agreement to offer a replacement to the CIMbridge software tool with eM-Assembly Expert, from Tecnomatix Unicam, for all Assembleon customers.
Tecnomatix Unicam is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tecnomatix Technologies.
Under the terms of the agreement, eM-Assembly Expert — a key component of the eMPower PCB assembly and test solution suite from Tecnomatix Unicam — will replace the CIMbridge platform currently being used by Assembleon customers. Since acquiring the CIMbridge business unit from Genrad in October 2002, Tecnomatix has been committed to a transition plan to upgrade CIMbridge users to a more advanced, integrated programming platform. With this offering from Tecnomatix and Assembleon, the CIMbridge installed base will be provided a solution that includes the latest advances in software development, and will be assured of a seamless migration path to best-in-class assembly and test technology.
Assembleon customers also will benefit from eM-Document Expert, a subset of eM-Assembly Expert that automates the creation of method sheets and other documentation for electronic assembly operations.
The eM-Assembly Expert programming front-end will interface with Assembleon optimizers and line balancers for all Assembleon machines, bringing the best of both technologies to the two companies' customers, and enabling Assembleon customers to introduce new products to the shop floor more quickly, accurately and cost-effectively. The Assembleon optimizers also will be available in the Tecnomatix eMPower for electronics assembly offering.
Customers will benefit from eM-Assembly Expert's closed loop balancing, shop floor documentation, support for all CAD formats available in the market, and multi-vendor line balancing solution. Expansion of the eM-Assembly Expert platform to other MPM solutions is available directly from Tecnomatix.Assembleon, formerly known as Philips Electronic Manufacturing Technology (EMT), is among the world leaders in the design and manufacture of surface mount pick-and-place equipment for the global electronics industry.
