SMTA Toronto to Feature Academy and Certification Programs

Minneapolis — The SMTA Academy Program will be held in Toronto from March 24 through 25 at the International Centre and will feature six full- and half-day courses.
"SMTA Certification for SMT Processes" also will be featured during SMTA Toronto (March 23 through 25). These SMTA events will be held in conjunction with the Canadian High Tech Show.
The Academy courses at SMTA Toronto include "Implementing Lead-free Assembly at Your Facility" by Ronald Lasky, Ph.D., Indium Corp. of America/Dartmouth College; "Double-sided Reflow Soldering" by Phil Zarrow, ITM; "Design for SMT Manufacturability from an Assembly Point of View" by Phil Zarrow, ITM; "Lead-free Surface Finishes and Compatibility with Lead-free Soldering" by Michael Carano, Electrochemicals; "Low-volume Surface Mount Assembly" by Rob Rowland, RadiSys Corp.; and "Advanced Troubleshooting in Printed Wiring Board Manufacturing" by Michael Carano, Electrochemicals.
The SMTA Certification Program also will be held in Toronto. SMT Process Certification is intended for engineers with at least one year of SMT experience and competence in engineering math. The SMT Processes curriculum covers SMT Materials, SMT Components, Stencil Printing, Dispensing, Component Placement, Reflow Soldering, Wave Soldering, Test and Inspection, and Line Balancing. The program is a three-day workshop consisting of refresher topics and course materials on the first two full days and examinations on the third day.
