Emerging Technologies Forum to Take Place During Embedded Systems Conference
December 12, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
San Francisco — When the electronicaUSA with Embedded Systems Conference starts on March 30, 2004 here, the expected 18,000 visitors can count on experiencing not only a comprehensive exhibition portfolio unique to the U.S., but also a singular extensive conference program with approximately 300 seminars, workshops and podium discussions.
The most recent developments in high-speed connectors, passive/active integration on-chips and advances in electromechanical components and MEMS will be examined in detail at the Emerging Technologies Forum — giving the visitor a taste of the technologies of tomorrow.
With its own platform within the fair, the Emerging Technologies Forum is open to all participants at electronicaUSA with ESC and takes place in the exhibition floor for connector technologies and passive components in the North Hall of the Moscone Convention Center. The subjects of the expert contributions and company presentations include:
- Future of Microsystems Technology and Sensors: Emerging MEMS applications: optical and radio frequency MEMS
- Switches and Relays: Integration of additional functionality — from product to system
- Connectors: High speed interconnects and extending bandwidth on copper cabling
- Passive Components: Potential of a new capacitor generation: Ultracaps
- PCB and Assembly: Embedded components in PCBs, "green" PCB and assembly: environment-friendly materials, processes and surfaces
- Wireless Life: Application-oriented session on technology requirements and challenges from the wireless applications driving components development
Specialists wanting to give a speech on innovative technologies or new design methods in one of these subject blocks have until December 15, 2003, to make their entry under the "Call for Submissions."
In addition to the Emerging Technologies Forum, three further technology conferences take place within the framework of electronicaUSA with ESC:
- The Embedded Systems Conference provides practical knowledge for microcontroller and microprocessor-based development. In addition to seminars focused on technology, the possibilities and risks of digital video will be discussed in a podium discussion ("Digital Video: Gold Mine or Money Pit?") and Jerry Fiddler, chairman and co-founder of Wind River, will speak about his visions of the future in his keynote address "Envisioning the Connected World."
- The Power Electronics Components, Systems and Applications Conference is being held to facilitate the exchange of experiences between semiconnector experts, systems engineers and packaging specialists on the subject of power electronics. The primary concern of the seminars will be examining the problems of power system design, with this same topic being taken up in the keynote address by Alexander Lidow, CEO of International Rectifier, "Systems Approach to Solving Challenges in Power Management: From AC Mains to Points of Load."
- The third conference, Communications Design Conference, design engineers and technical managers can learn more about designing OEM communication systems in seminars and can also collect suggestions for future communications design through personal networking, within the framework of the podium discussions "The Future of Network Processing" and "The Future of Wireless," for example.
In addition to the technical conferences, electronicaUSA with Embedded Systems Conference also offers a range of business events that may be of interest to everyone, not just the heads of companies and managers with decision-making authority. Here, the American market research company iSuppli will be providing insight into the future for the major semiconductor markets and developments in electronic components and the supply chain. Industry associations (such as the ERA Electronic Representatives Association or the FSA Fabless Semiconductor Association) will be addressing the global impact of environmental laws, the process of introducing products onto the market in the U.S. and other business topics. A series of discussions will also address future political and technical developments in the electronics industry, orientated towards questions from the middle management.
Around 500 exhibitors and more than 18,000 visitors and conference participants are expected for electronicaUSA with Embedded Systems Conference between March 29 and April 1, 2004, in San Francisco. electronicaUSA with Embedded Systems Conference is the first event in the United States to cover all sectors of the electronics industry. With exhibition areas for semiconductors, embedded systems and software, EDP, test and measurement technologies, and communications, this event is the most significant business event for the electronics industry in the USA.
