MSL to Host IPC EMS Training Program

Northbrook, Ill. and Concord, Mass. — IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries announces Manufacturers' Services Ltd. (MSL) will hold three on-site training sessions in 2004, as part of IPC's Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) Program Manager Certification Program.
The electronics manufacturing and supply-chain services company indicated its support of the program in February 2003 and will now host the introductory segment in its Arden Hills, Minn., plant on January 23 through 24; EMS Training II on April 23 through 24; and both the EMS Leadership Training and Certification Exam segments on June 24 through 26.
Developed in 2001 under the direction of the IPC EMS Management Council, the EMS Program Manager Training and Certification Program is tailored for EMS program managers, covering such topics as operations project management, finance, contract management and leadership skills. The extensive 70-hour-plus training program is designed for experienced managers, new managers and managers in training within the EMS industry. Upon completion of the requirements, candidates become IPC Certified EMS Program Managers and are able to use the "CEPM" designation after their names.
The training program is comprised of the following segments:
- Introduction to the EMS Industry and Program Management — Reveals fundamentals of program and operations management in the EMS industry.
- EMS Training I — Introduces basic business concepts, including contracts, finance, budgets and project management, through a series of online courses.
- EMS Training II — Focuses on specific situations in the EMS industry and prepares students for everyday, real-life circumstances.
- EMS Leadership Training — Presents necessary communication and leadership skills and teaches techniques to influence and lead individuals involved in any customer project.
- Certification Exam — Tests level of understanding and knowledge about program management in the EMS industry.
