Universal Instruments, Heraeus Join Forces
November 24, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Binghamton, N.Y. and Germany — Universal Instruments is to provide SMT placement capabilities at service centres owned by WC Heraeus GmbH & Co KG in Germany and China.
The equipment resources put in place by Universal will be used by Heraeus to test its own products and processes as well as strengthening its sales presentations to customers. Similarly, Universal will use the advanced process facilities of the Heraeus service centres to train its own customers.
The move is part of a technology cooperation and resource sharing agreement announced in October by Universal Instruments GmbH and the SMT Materials business unit of Heraeus. Under the agreement, the two companies will also share technology trends, and will present joint marketing activities including technology days, open house events and exhibitions. The agreement also involves the Universal Instruments SMT Lab at Binghamton.
The Universal equipment will be installed at the Heraeus service centres in Hanau, Germany and Suzhou, China. Universal will also train Heraeus technical staff at each location to use its machines.
Universal Instruments is a global electronics productivity specialist, providing innovative circuit, semiconductor and back-end assembly technologies and equipment, integrated system solutions, and process expertise to manufacturers in every sector of the electronics industry.
