WBMS Appoints New Director
November 11, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
UK — The World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) has appointed Kay Nimmo to the Board of Directors.
Nimmo is manager of environmental affairs at Tin Technology and is expecting to make a significant contribution to the future development of WBMS through her extensive experience in the non-ferrous metals, and particularly tin, industries.
WBMS is an organization that has been publishing independent statistics on production trends, consumption and trade for all the major non-ferrous metals for more than 50 years. It was acquired by Tin Technology, the tin industry research, development and marketing organization, in December 2002 following a successful bid in conjunction with the existing management.
Nimmo gained a metallurgy degree from the University of Birmingham and a widespread knowledge of non-ferrous metal processing during her first appointment at the Cookson Group Technology Centre. She joined Tin Technology in 1995 as research manager for solder and metallurgy, and in 2001 became Tin Technology's first manager of environmental affairs. Her responsibilities now cover many legislative, environmental and toxicological activities surrounding the support of tin as a sustainable metal for the future.
Tin Technology is a membership-based organization involved in the research, development and marketing of tin-based technologies. Its membership is drawn from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. It is the world's foremost authority on tin, with access to more than 60 years experience through its association with ITRI Ltd (formerly the International Tin Research Institute).
The World Bureau of Metal Statistics is the data resource of first resort for anyone involved with the global metals industry. For more information, visit www.world-bureau.co.uk.
