Chicago — Axon' Cable will celebrate its $1 million investment in an innovative machine for producing flat flexible cables (FFC) in its new facility located in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg.
The Grand Inauguration Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2003.
The company is a leading designer and manufacturer of high tech wire and cables as well as cable assemblies for industrial markets such as medical, automotive, consumer, aviation and aeronautical applications. In addition, with its AXOJUMP FFCs, Axon' Cable is one of the world's largest manufacturers of flat flexible cables, which are used extensively in the automotive and consumer markets as well as for any application that requires a fast, cost effective, and reliable connection between circuit boards. Axon' Cable has been present in the Chicago area for nearly 15 years, building up a solid base of customers throughout North America. teady growth of the company enabled it to move into spacious new premises in Schaumburg a few months ago, with the plan that the additional space be used for manufacturing. Although the company already has extensive manufacturing centers throughout Europe and the Far East, the need to service the market in North America has prompted the company to invest in a state-of-the-art, custom-built plant to manufacture FFCs in the Chicago area. Axon' Cable is pleased to include many major OEMs and national distributors in their extensive customer base. In addition to its U.S. headquarters near Chicago, the company also has offices on the east and west coasts as well as in Texas. To celebrate the new premises and investments, Joseph Puzo, president and CEO of the Axon' Group, and his American colleagues have invited associates, customers and clients to join them for a Champagne celebration. Visitors will be able to see an art exhibition with local artists of the Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg and a historical presentation celebrating the links between Chicago and Europe. Some of Axon's research, design and development engineers also will be on hand to assist with any technical discussions. The Axon' Group has continually invested about 10 percent of the annual turnover in R&D to ensure that the latest technologies and developments are brought to the marketplace quickly. The new plant will be unveiled to the visitors with working demonstrations of its immense capacity. Originally founded in the Champagne region of France, the Axon' Cable group has grown to become an international organization with more than 1,200 staff located in sales and manufacturing centers throughout Europe, across the Pacific Rim and in North America.
