Tyco Electronics Official Recognized by SMTA
October 10, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Harrisburg, Pa. — Tyco Electronics, a business segment of Tyco International Ltd., announces that Jim Kuehn, western regional manager for Tyco Electronics' Automation Group, was presented with the Surface Mount Technology Association's (SMTA) "Excellence in Leadership" award at the recent SMTA International, held in Chicago, Ill.
Annually, the SMTA's Awards Committee recommends that a select group of individuals who have served the association tirelessly over the past years be honored. Kuehn was selected for his numerous contributions as both president and vice president of the Portland, Ore. Chapter.
Additionally, Kuehn has been influential in helping numerous colleagues become leaders in their own way. His leadership style is businesslike, low-key and presented in a sharing and caring style. In addition to his exemplary leadership in the Oregon Chapter, Kuehn has been instrumental in forming a Chapter in Boise, Idaho and a Student Chapter in Corvallis, Ore. His offer of support and help has also been extended to colleagues interested in forming a chapter in the Vancouver, BC area. Kuehn travels extensively and continuously checks to see if there is a Chapter event in the area he is visiting.
Kuehn serves the SMTA nationally on the Membership Committee. He has spoken at various chapter officers meetings and encourages leaders from his area to participate beyond SMTA locally. Kuehn has been a familiar face at SMTA International every year. He has served as a session co-chair and offers his time to promote SMTA in the booth, as well as in the Bookstore during the show. Kuehn is a loyal supporter of SMTA, and personifies a "Perfect Volunteer," according to the Association.
