August 26, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Atlanta — Dan Shea, senior vice president and group general manager of Celestica Inc., will deliver the keynote address at PCB Design Conference East 2003 on Tuesday, October 21, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Boxborough Woods Holiday Inn in Boxborough, Mass.
Shea will speak on "Transformational Outsourcing in the Printed Circuit Design Industry." Well versed on the many benefits that outsourced design services bring to global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Shea will discuss the current landscape for design services and address the transformation of the design model as OEMs move towards a full virtual manufacturing. The keynote will highlight and provide answers to the following questions: What is driving the trend towards outsourced design services? What types of design services are being outsourced? How does the design fit into the future of electronics manufacturing services (EMS) outsourcing? What impact will design outsourcing have on OEMs and what are the benefits? Are EMS providers ready to support global design solutions for OEM customers? What kind of infrastructure is needed to facilitate this service on a global scale? How will deeper outsourcing impact the printed circuit designer?
