2003 CATEGORIESSMT Magazine is seeking the finest examples of creative advancement in technology in fifteen critical areas:

ELIGIBILITYOnly products that have been introduced between January 1, 2003, and December 31, 2003, qualify.
JUDGINGA distinguished panel of industry experts will evaluate each submission based on its ability to meet a significant industry challenge; creative application of a new or existing technology; overall quality and consistency of performance; economic merits; and throughput characteristics. Products will be judged specifically on their innovativeness, cost effectiveness, speed/throughput improvements, quality contribution, ease of use, maintainability/repairability and environmental responsibility. All entries will be audited by an independent market research firm.
REQUIREMENTSCompanies must submit a single, fully completed entry form for each product or service and for each category entered. Entries that fail to comply with the submission requirements will result in automatic disqualification.
All entries must be accompanied by:
1. Official entry form (photocopies ok).
2. A check for the appropriate entry fees made payable to Vision Awards/SMT.
3. A 150-word statement on a disk/CD, or e-mailed to jennyp@pennwell.com describing the product or service as it relates to innovativeness, cost effectiveness, speed/throughput improvements, quality contribution, ease of use, maintainability and repairability, and technology advancement.
4. A PDF or Word file on a disk/CD (or e-mailed to jennyp@pennwell.com) of technical product literature/product specifications OR a PDF or Word file on a disk/CD (or e-mailed to jennyp@pennwell.com) documenting a service program along with appropriate customer approval letters.
5. High resolution product image (3 x 5" at 300 dpi in a .tif, .jpg or .eps file) on a disk/CD or e-mailed to jennyp@pennwell.com.
Product or service description statements will be used verbatim for judging purposes.
The judging process will be handled through independent judges not affiliated with PennWell or SMT Magazine in any official way. The balloting process, including vote compilations, will be handled entirely by Hunter Marketing, an independent market research firm.
Winners will not be notified beforehand.
Entrants will receive a written invitation to the Vision Awards Presentation Ceremony.
The Vision Awards are not affiliated with any advertising program in any manner. Winners are judged solely upon the merits of their product submissions.
It is the judges' option not to award a winner in a given category.
Materials submitted for competition become the property of PennWell and will not be returned.
AWARDSEach category winner will receive a handsome display award and the right to use the 2003 Vision Awards identity. Winners will also be featured in the Vision Awards spotlight in the Vision issue of SMT, published in May and focusing on new products and industry trends.
ENTRY FEE$175 U.S. per single entry per category.
DEADLINEAll entries must be postmarked no later than Friday, November 7, 2003.
