Lowe Promoted to Chief Technology Officer of Assa Abloy Identification Technology Group

Irvine, Calif. — Peter Lowe has been promoted to chief technology officer for the ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group (ITG).
In this new role, Lowe will be involved in providing direction and oversight to all technology-related issues within ITG, identifying new product opportunities for existing and new markets, evaluating acquisitions, and participating in ASSA ABLOY's global technology strategy and projects. Lowe reports to Joe Grillo, president and CEO of ASSA ABLOY ITG.
Lowe will also continue to manage a core team of senior engineers that participate in research activities. The ITG Research and Development Center is based in Denver, Colo.
Examples of joint developments with North American ASSA ABLOY companies include working with Sargent to develop electronic locks, and with HES to structure technology agreements with other companies. The ASSA ABLOY Global Technologies Group encompasses the hospitality, identification, and doors groups. Prior to his promotion, Lowe was executive vice president of engineering for ITG. Lowe joined Hughes Aircraft Co. in early 1992 to manage product development for the new RFID division that subsequently became HID Corp. Previously, he held senior product development positions at Honeywell.
Lowe earned a B.S. in physics from the University of Birmingham in the UK, and has been awarded 25 U.S. patents.
