Yancey Joins EWI as Engineering and NDE Technology Leader
July 2, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Columbus, Ohio — Robert Yancey, Ph.D. has joined EWI as Engineering and Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Technology Leader.
Yancey specializes in engineering simulation and nondestructive evaluation (NDE), and he is responsible for business development and technical leadership in these areas. His engineering expertise includes finite element analysis, design optimization, thermo-mechanical analysis, fatigue, fracture, and micromechanical modeling. His NDE expertise includes digital and film radiography, X-ray computed tomography (CT), and ultrasonics.
Yancey has applied engineering simulation and NDE to a variety of material systems including metals, ceramics, composites and plastics. Yancey has also applied his expertise to a number of industries including aerospace, automotive, defense, and consumer products. He has published more than 30 papers and conference proceedings on the application of digital radiography (DR) and CT techniques.
Prior to joining EWI, Yancey was employed by Altair Engineering where he served as the regional managing director for Altair's Ohio Valley region. In this capacity, he was responsible for the management and growth of the Ohio Valley office. While employed there, Yancey was instrumental in developing new markets and applications for Altair's products and services. One of his key focus areas was the development of CAE tools to be used by non-experts.
Preceding his employment at Altair Engineering, Yancey worked for Advanced Research and Applications Corp. (ARACOR). While there, he applied ARACOR's DR and CT technologies to the nondestructive characterization of advanced materials and systems and developed an innovative method of linking NDE data with engineering simulation.
Yancey is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
EWI is North America's largest engineering and technology organization dedicated to welding and materials joining. For more information, visit www.ewi.org.
