Malvern, Pa. — Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has completed installation of new dicing, laser trimming and laser scribing and drilling systems in its Electro-Films Inc. facility in Warwick, R.I.

According to Vishay Electro-Films, new dicing systems have dramatically increased yields while reducing downtime by an estimated 85 percent over older systems. All part information is now digitally cataloged in the system.

The Warwick facility reportedly now has the world's most modern laser trimming operation, providing the highest precision in beam positioning combined with ultra-stable diode-powered lasers for the smallest spot-size in the industry. All systems employ pattern recognition for fully automatic and repeatable operation. New laser scribing and drilling systems combine the same advantages, plus reduced thermal effects.

Vishay Electro-Films is a technology leader in manufacturing thin-film components and networks on ceramic and silicon, including resistors, capacitors, inductors and microwave components.
