Productronica 2003 Highlights Key Growth Sectors in the International Electronics Production Market

Munich, Germany — Productronica, the world's largest trade show for electronics production, will take place November 11 through 14, 2003, here.
The trade show and supporting conferences will provide visitors a comprehensive look at the future of microsystems technology through state-of-the-art exhibits, user forums and live demonstrations. In addition, for the first time at Productronica, production logistic and materials-flow technology will be highlighted as a separate segment on the 1.4 million sq. ft. exhibit floor.
More than 47,000 international visitors and 1,700 exhibitors are expected at this year's show.In addition to leading exhibits, the Productronica User Forum will feature international experts in microsystems technology demonstrating the latest developments in areas such as connections and packaging, handling, test equipment and services. Visitors will experience live demonstrations including assembly of ultra-thin chips for smart labels and non-contact handling of wafers and small parts.
Logistics continues to grow in importance to the international electronics production market. For this reason, Productronica will feature, for the first time, production logistics and materials-flow techniques as its own exhibit segment. Specifically, the new exhibit area will focus on:
- Acquisition of information
- Purchasing
- Goods management systems
- Logistics management
- Materials flow control and the relevant software
- Transport and conveyor technology
- Warehousing and consignment systems
- Packaging technology
- Turnkey logistics system
With admission to Productronica, visitors will be able to participate for free in leading supporting events including the Productronica Forum, a panel discussion featuring prominent speakers from the industry, as well as the Productronica Arenas located throughout the trade show floor providing a platform for companies to unveil new products, demonstrate new system solutions and hold expert discussions on topics important to the industry. In addition, the trade show "Embedded in Munich" will be held in conjunction with Productronica on November 11 through 4, 2003, at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. About 270 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors from around the world are expected to participate in this leading trade show for software and hardware developers.The focus on embedded systems continues with the 2nd annual Embedded Systems Conference in Munich. The conference will be held adjacent to Productronica at the International Congress Centre, providing visitors convenient access to the premier technical conference for international embedded developers.
