June 16, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Minneapolis — Organized by the SMTA, four SMTA International events are specifically planned for industry professionals who have an interest in emerging technologies, contract manufacturing, manufacturing migrations to China, or lead-free soldering technology.
SMTA is co-locating SMTA International with the Assembly Tech Expo (ATExpo) show this fall at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. (Conference: September 21 through 25; Exhibits: September 23 through 25).
The Emerging Technologies Summit, on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. will feature three paper sessions on SiP/3-D, MEMS and wireless, followed by an Emerging Technologies Panel Discussion moderated by Ken Gilleo, Ph.D., Cookson Electronics. Attendees of the Emerging Technologies Summit will learn from industry experts about the latest technology developments and how they will affect economic recovery.
The Contract Manufacturing Symposium on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to noon will feature two paper sessions entitled "Smart EMS: Knowledge is Power — and Money!" and "The New World of EMS." As outsourcing continues to be an increasing trend, attendees of the Contract Manufacturing Symposium will learn how to better manage the aspects of current business that positively affect the bottom line, and will learn how to determine if offshore outsourcing is the best decision for business development.
Manufacturing Migrations to China on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to noon will feature three papers on Component Procurement and Distribution, Capital Equipment Production, and Business and Regulatory Climate, followed by a panel discussion. During this half-day symposium attendees will learn about business and technology issues surrounding electronics manufacturers moving operations to China.
Organized by Paul T. Vianco, Ph.D. of Sandia National Labs, the Lead-free Soldering Technology Symposium, on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., will feature four paper sessions on Lead-free and Tin Whiskers Consortia Activities, Advanced Materials for Innovative Soldering Applications, Process Optimization for Lead-free Solder and Conductive Epoxy, and Lead-free Soldering Reliability Studies. Attendees of the Lead-free Soldering Technology Symposium will learn about the most important recent issues and practical and ingenious solutions for many challenging modern soldering applications.
The Emerging Technologies Summit, Contract Manufacturing Symposium and Lead-free Symposium are all included in the VIP or Technical Conference Registration Package. Manufacturing Migrations to China is free to all conference attendees.
Featuring SMT, flip chip, MEMS, chip scale, BGA, automotive, lead-free, process control and more, SMTA International is dedicated to surface mount, advanced packaging and related technologies.
