Xanoptix and Tyco Electronics Sign Manufacturing Services Agreement
May 16, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Merrimack, N.H. and Harrisburg, Pa. — Xanoptix and Tyco Electronics have formed a multi-year, multi-million dollar manufacturing services agreement for Xanoptix's XTM Series of optical transceiver products.
The non-exclusive agreement allows Tyco Electronics to manufacture parallel optics transceiver modules based on the design of Xanoptix's XTM product line and using hybrid integrated circuits provided by Xanoptix.
The XTM Series is comprised of parallel optics transceiver modules that offer up to 72 channels terminated in a single MT style fiber optic connector with up to 245 gigabits/ second of aggregate bandwidth. When compared to existing solutions, the XTM Series offers dramatically improved speed, power consumption and density. It provides the optoelectronics industry with unprecedented features such as enhanced lifetime, programmable channel control and automatic performance adjustments. This groundbreaking family of products addresses a wide range of applications in telecom, datacom, computing and data storage.
The key enablers behind the performance of the XTM Series of products are semiconductor devices manufactured with Xanoptix's revolutionary Hybrid Integrated Circuit Technology. Hybrid Integrated Circuits are 3-D stacked silicon and compound semiconductor chips manufactured in a wafer scale assembly process. Hybrid Integrated Circuits combine the variety and cost effectiveness of silicon chips with the advanced capabilities of other semiconductor materials, such as high-speed compounds or optical semiconductors.
Xanoptix commercializes a revolutionary new approach to semiconductor manufacturing — the three-dimensional integration of silicon integrated circuits with other devices.
Tyco Electronics is the world's largest passive electronic components manufacturer; a world leader in cutting-edge wireless, active fiber optic and complete power systems technologies; and is also rapidly developing extensive networking and building technology installation services.
