April 18, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Munich, Germany -- Photonics research, trends, financing and applications will be the focus of industry events held in conjunction with LASER. World of Photonics, the world's largest trade show for optical technology.
LASER will take place June 23 through 26, 2003, in Munich, Germany. More than 19,000 visitors and 900 exhibitors are expected at this year's show.
In addition to the more than 355,000 sq ft of exhibit floor space, the show will feature numerous supporting business and venture capital events, as well as concurrent congresses including the European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and European Quantum-Electronics Conference featuring leading international representatives from education, research and engineering. Additionally, the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) and the German Scientific Laser Society (WLT) will hold conferences addressing biomedical optics, optics and lasers in meteorology and lasers in manufacturing/laser precision microfabrication.
Also new to LASER this year is the addition of FiberComm, the first comprehensive trade show to focus on all aspects of the fiber optics industry from components, systems and network development to measuring and testing technology, production and installation. FiberComm will debut June 23 through 26, 2003, and will take place every other year in conjunction with LASER.
Overall, experts are rating the photonics market favorably, predicting an upturn in 2003. According to new reports, optical networking is expected to reach a market value of more than $1 billion worldwide by 2006. Additionally, the international medical laser market is currently worth $1.3 billion, making LASER the ideal place in 2003 to learn about the latest trends and global market opportunities.
Visitors and exhibitors at LASER will have the opportunity to take part in leading events beyond the trade show including:
