Norplex Acquires the Micarta Product Group in Hampton, S.C.
April 11, 2003 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Postville, Iowa -- The Industrial Laminates/Norplex Inc. (ILN), Division of Industrial Dielectrics Inc., acquired the assets of Nevamar's industrial laminates production, located in Hampton, S.C.
The Micarta product line will be moved to the ILN plant in Postville, Iowa. The Hampton facility was originally built by Westinghouse Inc., one of the world's leaders in the development of power generation equipment. The Micarta product line is now an integral part of Industrial Laminates/Norplex Inc., and the assets will be moved to the ILN base in Postville, Iowa.
Consolidating these two businesses reportedly makes ILN the world leader in the manufacture of industrial composites for applications ranging from simple switch insulation to complex composites with applications in aerospace. The composites manufactured include sheet and plate, convolute rolled and filament wound tubing, and molded rods and shapes.
