DEK Acquires Acumen Technology as Production Center for PumpPrint Stencils in the Americas
February 13, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Guadalajara, Mexico -- With the acquisition of Acumen Technology, DEK has placed its PumpPrint stencil production site in a strategic location to serve customers in North and South America.
The new entity, known as Acumen Technology, A Business of DEK, was formed in response to the needs of DEK's expanding customer base of OEMs and EMS providers in Mexico, along the US-Mexican border and throughout the Western Hemisphere.
PumpPrint stencils are used with DEK's ProFlow DirEKt Imaging materials transfer technology to apply adhesives and other materials three to four times faster than serial dispensing systems. The lightweight, acrylic stencils feature precisely machined apertures that allow glue dots of different heights to be deposited through a single thickness, in a single traverse of the enclosed ProFlow head across the stencil.Stencil designs can be generated using Gerber, HPGL, DXF and ODB++, or can be scanned directly from a PCB. With modern CAD/CAM processing, stencils are manufactured in a matter of hours and delivered quickly from the new production site to nearby users.
In addition to producing PumpPrint stencils, DEK and Acumen have combined their customer bases and product knowledge in the area of dedicated tooling solutions. The facility's production capacity for dedicated tooling, another area of growth among the region's many electronics assembly sites, has also been increased in respond to market demand.
