Tin Technology Acquires The World Bureau of Metal Statistics
December 19, 2002 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
UK -- Tin Technology Ltd. has acquired The World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS). This follows a successful bid in conjunction with the existing management. WBMS has been publishing independent statistics for more than 50 years for the major non-ferrous metals. The acquisition of WBMS by Tin Technology will provide a solid foundation to the organization and support its future development.
Although Tin Technology and WBMS will remain as separate organizations with independent management, there are synergies, particularly in areas such as marketing, information technology, and data collection, which will be fully exploited. WBMS produces a monthly Bulletin, which covers all metal statistics in detail and represents the most comprehensive data available in the market. A Yearbook is produced every May and is the first publication to give annual figures for the previous year. WBMS is unique in the metals sector in producing information on production trends, consumption and trade for all the major non-ferrous metals.
Sue Eales remains as general manager of WBMS and David Bishop, managing director of Tin Technology, will take up the position of chairman.
WBMS will be introducing web-based data retrieval at the start of 2003, which will enable existing account subscribers to access data at any time from any location. Also, this service will be extended to ad hoc customers by on line credit card payment.Tin Technology is a membership-based organization involved in the research, development and marketing of tin-based technologies. Its membership is drawn from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. For more information, visit www.tintechnology.com.
