Elcoteq to Re-open the Tallin 2 Plant in Estonia
December 17, 2002 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Helsinki, Finland -- Elcoteq Network Corp. will re-open its second plant in Tallinn, Estonia, at the beginning of 2003.
This plant was originally completed in early 2001 to start manufacturing communications network equipment products. As the market slowdown became clearly evident that year, Elcoteq decided in the fall of 2001 to close the Tallinn 2 plant for the time being and move its production to the other Elcoteq Tallinn plant, which mainly concentrated on manufacturing terminal products. Since then the Tallinn 2 plant has been used as a warehouse for e.g. customers' products.
Elcoteq has had a manufacturing operation in Tallinn since 1992. Currently Elcoteq employs 2,000 persons in Tallinn, which is 200 more than at its lowest during 2002. Elcoteq Group now has altogether 8,500 employees.
Elcoteq Network Corp. is the largest European electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company and one of the global leaders in its field. For more information, visit www.elcoteq.com.
