FastRamp Test Services Acquires Conexant Test Operations
December 17, 2002 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Singapore and Milpitas, Calif. -- FastRamp Test Services, a subsidiary of ST Assembly Test Services Ltd. (STATS) has entered into an agreement with Conexant Systems Inc. to purchase Conexant's test operation in San Diego, Calif.
In exchange for cash and services, FastRamp will acquire the manufacturing assets of Conexant's Broadband Communications Segment test floor operation including mixed-signal testers, test handlers and prober equipment. The transaction is expected to close on December 20, 2002.
In addition to the transfer of assets, Conexant test manufacturing employees will be offered employment with FastRamp. The transaction includes a long-term business relationship between Conexant and FastRamp for test services.
As in Milpitas, "FastRamp San Diego" will provide 24/7 customer access to high-end test systems and full production test including backend services. The facility will be upgraded to accommodate more of today's high-end test systems that are in demand such as Agilent's HP93K, and will provide the quiet comfortable engineering-friendly environment to which FastRamp Milpitas customers have become accustomed. Beginning in January 2003, the FastRamp San Diego operation will be positioned to support all new customers.
