ElectronicAsia Comes to Successful Conclusion
December 13, 2002 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Hong Kong -- ElectronicAsia, International Trade Fair for Components, Assemblies, Electronics Production and Display Technologies took place in Hong Kong from October 11 to 14, 2002.
The organizers, Munich International Trade Fairs and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, were hosts to 511 exhibitors, up from 502 in 2001, from 12 countries at this key regional trade fair for electronics and production technologies. The proportion of exhibiting companies from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan was up by 3.4 percent from the previous year.
ElectronicAsia is indeed one of the most important trade fairs for electronic components and assemblies in southern China and Southeast Asia; this year it attracted 16,000 specialist visitors in the course of four days. The number of European visitors increased, too: they form the largest group from outside Asia, with a proportion of more than 10 percent. Thirty-two percent of visitors came from the surrounding Asian countries, including mainland China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan; 47 percent were from Hong Kong itself. The remaining visitors had traveled from America, the Pacific countries or Africa.
This year, the "World of Display Technology" again formed a separate segment at electronicAsia, showing the latest trends in displays. Also taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in 2002 were the Hong Kong Electronics Fair and the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair. However, electronicAsia was fully booked and needs to be able to expand, so in the coming year the Lighting Fair will move out to make space for the growing number of exhibitors in the fields of electronic components, assemblies and electronics production. The close ties with the Hong Kong Electronics Fair will be maintained. This is Asia's largest fair for consumer electronics; its exhibitors (1,742 in 2002) make use of electronicAsia to find out about current developments in electronic components and to meet potential new suppliers.
The next electronicAsia will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 13 to 16, 2003.
electronicAsia is organized jointly by Munich International Trade Fairs Pte Ltd (MMI), a subsidiary of Messe Munchen GmbH, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Hong Kong's largest exhibition organizer.
