NEMA Members Elect Cooper Industries' Ralph Jackson Chairman of the Board

Rosslyn, Va. -- Ralph Jackson, chief operating officer of Cooper Industries, was named chairman of the board of governors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) at its 76th annual meeting and leadership conference, held November 11 through 12 in Chicago, Ill.
In addition, board leadership slots were filled, four new directors were named to the board, and five directors were re-appointed.
Jackson and the other directors will begin serving on January 1, 2003, when outgoing chairman Jean-Paul Montupet, chief executive officer of Emerson Electric, steps down.
Jackson joined McGraw-Edison Co. in 1976, before its acquisition by Cooper in 1985, as president of McGraw's Air Comfort Division. Prior to that, he was vice president of sales and marketing at Tappan Air Conditioning Division. In 1980, Jackson was named vice president, operations of Cooper's Bussmann Division. He served in that position until 1984, when he was named president of Bussmann Division. In 1992, he was named executive vice president, operations, with responsibility for Cooper's electrical products segment. He became Cooper Industries' chief operating officer in January 2001 and is responsible for all of their worldwide business operations.
Other officers elected at NEMA's annual meeting and leadership conference were Lloyd Trotter, president and chief executive officer, GE Industrial Systems, who will serve as NEMA vice chairman; Randy Carson, senior vice president, group executive, Cutler-Hammer, who will also serve as a NEMA vice chairman; and John Estey, president and chief executive officer, S&C Electric Company, who will serve as treasurer.
Keith Nosbusch, president and chief operating officer, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell will become policy committee chairman for standards and conformity assessment; Chris Richardson, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Square D Co., will become government affairs policy chairman; Tim Powers, president and chief executive officer, Hubbell Inc., will become e-commerce policy chairman; Charlie Jerabek, president, OSRAM-SYLVANIA, will serve as business information policy chairman; and John Stropki, president, Lincoln Electric Co., will serve as section affairs policy chairman.
Newly appointed to NEMA's board of governors for three-year terms are Brian Dundon, president, Advance Transformer Co.; Aubert Martin, chief executive officer, Siemens Energy & Automation Inc.; and Del Nickel, president, Hoffman Enclosures.
Re-appointed were John Estey, president and chief executive officer, S&C Electric Co.; Ralph Jackson, chief operating officer, Cooper Industries Inc.; Larry Powers, chief executive officer, Genlyte Thomas Group LLC; Charles VerMerris, president and chief executive officer, Radix Wire Co.; and James Packard, chairman and chief executive officer, Regal-Beloit, for three-year terms; William Boehm, president and chairman of the board, Connector Manufacturing Co., for a two-year term; and T. Kevin Dunnigan, chairman and chief executive officer, Thomas & Betts Co., for a one-year term.
