Columbus, Ohio -- Jennie S. Hwang, Ph.D., SMT Editorial Advisory Board member and long-tenured columnist, was inducted into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame last month.
Ohio Governor Bob Taft and First Lady Hope Taft presided over the 24th annual induction ceremony at the Ohio Statehouse.
U.S. Congressman Steven LaTourette's congratulatory letter to Hwang read: "...On countless occasions, Dr. Hwang has provided me with excellent council about the high-tech industry and issues affecting the business and technology arenas, and women's employment.... Hwang is an industry leader in a highly competitive field, and a wonderful role model for all young women..."
The Ohio Women's Hall of Fame was established in 1978 to create public recognition of the many outstanding contributions Ohio women have made to their state, nation and the world. Hwang joins hundreds of outstanding members, including America's first female physician Elizabeth Blackwell, best-selling author and syndicated columnist Erma Bombeck, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Designer Maya Lin, physician and NASA flight surgeon Dr. Irene Duhart Long, and Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison.
